Russell grew up in Belbroughton and went to school in Hagley. He graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2002 and now works in Birmingham as a property tax consultant, a job that gives plenty of opportunities for travel, which he greatly enjoys. Russell is also the Chairman of his local Conservative Branch and the Deputy Chairman of the Bromsgrove Conservative Association. What spare time remains is spent watching films and television, playing badminton and tennis with enthusiastic incompetence and reading a variety of books, newspapers and, in particular, car magazines. Russell especially enjoys the peculiar sensation of writing about himself in the third person.
